THE COURSE
Nestled in the Des Plaines River Valley, Cog Hill has been luring avid golfers since 1927. This privately-owned golf complex is located in a lovely rural setting less than 30 miles southwest of Chicago. The public is welcome to play any one of the four 18-hole regulation golf courses, including the world-famous Course #4, "DUBSDREAD." This course has been nationally ranked since it opened in 1964. It is a natural style championship golf course, which places a demand on shot making by providing tight landing areas combined with heavily bunkered, large undulating greens.
From September 2007 to September 2008, renowned golf course architect Rees Jones oversaw a renovation project to update the challenges envisioned in the original design of Dick Wilson and Joe Lee. Golfers now face 18 new greens with Sub-Air Systems, redesigned and repositioned sand bunkers, a risk-reward pond on Hole 7, additional tee options, and a 497-yd. par 4 finishing hole featuring a green moved perilously close to the nearby pond.
